"This is, hands-down, my new favorite of all our children's books, as well as the "story Bible" genre. It is superior to most other Bible story books in that it is written not as a collection of stories, but as one story -- God's "Big Picture." It is, simply, a "Biblical Theology" for children, tracing the grandest Biblical story lines progressively through the entire Bible. Author David Helm does this in a way that is Christ-centered, while also showing how themes like God's place, God's people, and God's Word/Promise find their climax and fulfillment in Jesus. "Big Picture" also refers to the artwork, which is fantastic. I am sure it is the reason this book was my toddler's favorite long before she could follow the story itself. Besides being visually engaging, the artwork contributes significantly to the plan of the book by having progressively repeating themes to reinforce the story of redemption that forms the "plot" of this children's Biblical theology."
- Jim Weidenaar, WTSBooks

"As someone who tries (and succeeds, most of the time) to establish a regular pattern of family worship at the dinner table, I am always on the lookout for good Bible story resources to use with children of all ages. David Helm's Big Picture Story Bible is an excellent book to read with the youngest members of the covenant community. The book is written in a simple way that little children can understand. The pictures reinforce the meaning of the biblical text and often contain details that generate conversation and lead to a deeper understanding of the gospel. Even better, Helm's redemptive-historical orientation helps even the youngest Christians see the fundamental unity of the Bible and its single gospel message of salvation in Christ. As the title implies, it is an ideal book for helping little people get "the big picture."
- Philip Ryken, Tenth Presbyterian Church

"The Big Picture Story Bible... presents the Bible as a unified story — and this is so important, even when children are quite young. Children have keen narrative minds and active imaginations. They need to have those capacities respected and developed through hearing the stories of the Bible over and over again. At the same time, parents who read and tell these stories should help children to connect the dots and to learn of God's love and saving purpose from one story to the next. Children taught to see the big picture and to know the big story are in a good position to see that knowledge matured through deeper Bible study in years ahead... great gifts for children and young families."
- Al Mohler, President, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

"Emu must be ranked with the best. Concerned with Biblical fidelity on the one hand, they are no less concerned to communicate to a new generation in musical idioms that are both contemporary and artistically pleasing."
- D.A. Carson

"These two cds offer a great selection of song with catchy tunes and memorable lyrics. Designed for teaching young children (pre-K to second grade), their great strength is the way in which they explain simple gospel truths, from God's sovereignty to the doctrine of scripture, in everyday, accessible language, reinforced by a variety of delightful melodies. Some songs are of a sing-along variety, some are reflective, some contain short pieces of helpful commentary. They will make a great resource for Sunday School teachers looking for new material to sing with the kids, and for parents who want to teach their children biblical truths via an attractive and memorable medium. Particularly striking is the fact that the teaching in the songs is expressed in such a way that even unchurched children will be able to benefit from them, making them ideal for Vacation Bible Schools, kindergarten, and other similar children's activities. Highly recommended for teachers, parents, and children alike."
- Dr. Carl and Mrs. Catriona Trueman

"The theological depth undergirding these creative, age-appropriate songs is stunning. Some of my favorites were:
-Jesus is the Boss Essentially a doctrine of the Lordship of Christ - for toddlers
-There's A Way Back to God In the midst of our broken world and the sin that so easily entangles, this is a song I hope my children - and I - never forget.
-Blind Bartimaeus This song drew my 4 year-old son deep into the story and encouraged him to cry to Jesus for mercy as Bartimaeus did. It was breathtaking to see the Holy Spirit use this song to give my young son a glimpse of our Lord.
- Chun Lai, WTSBooks

"My family loves this CD. The songs are fun, singable, and full of gospel truth. The theology of the songs is obviously intentional and more complete in its scope than most children's music. These songs introduce God to your child as both Creator and Redeemer; they celebrate Jesus as both Lord and Savior, as crucified and risen. The melodies, instrumentation, and lyrics are simple and clear, not too busy or "grown-up." They also do a great job of incorporating biblical truth into common "early childhood" learning subjects, such as basic vocabulary, concepts about animals (God Made the Pig), nature (Who Made the World?), and our bodies (Two Little Eyes). The song on "J is for Jesus" that I think does this most cleverly is The Bible Alphabet. My daughter is learning the alphabet and gospel truth at the same time!"

God's Little Guidebooks:
Ten Commandments Box Set

Hazel Scrimshire

List: $9.99 ... WTS $6.99 (30% Off)

"[A]n attractively produced and delightful introduction to the Ten Commandments for children... connecting with the world with which they are familiar, drawing out simple applications, and pointing them to God himself. That they come as a boxed set is an added bonus and makes them an obvious choice for a stocking filler present at Christmas. We have already decided that we will be giving a set each to the children in our Sunday School class."
- Dr. Carl Trueman (VP, Westminster Theological Seminary) & Mrs. Catriona Trueman

"I have been looking for books like these for a long time. They teach the Ten Commandments by illustrating each in the context of the daily life of a child. We see "Sam" and "Katy" learning to remember each of the commandments as they relate to God, each other, their parents, and their friends. Author Hazel Scrimshire does a particularly good job presenting the positive aspect of the commands - not just what they prohibit, but what they enjoin."
- Jim Weidenaar, WTSBooks

6 out of 5 Stars?
"If I could give a book 6 stars, this would be the book. The format and content are excellent. There are 36 very brief chapters, vignettes really, where we follow Caleb and Cassie, brother and sister, who have parents committed to raising them in the fear and admonition of the Lord. Each chapter is accompanied by questions and answers from the Westminster Shorter Catechism, questions and answers that relate to the brief stories. Each brief story is then followed by additional questions that will encourage discussion. Included with each vignette is a relevant passage of scripture you are encouraged to pray. ...This is an excellent resource I would recommend without reservation."

All Things Bright and Beautiful

Cecil Frances Alexander

List: $16.99 ... WTS $11.89 (30% Off)

"A stunning book to read and share, this book features beautiful illustrations that bring to life the beloved hymn, "All Things Bright and Beautiful." Pull on your boots and come along as a young girl revels in the majesty of God's creation, from sweeping vistas to the smallest details of her day in the country. Skillfully composed watercolors underscore both the simplicity and depth of the hymn, originally written to help children understand the beginning lines of the Apostle's Creed. This timeless book is an invitation to the senses to see, hear, feel, and praise in quiet and aloud the wonders of "God Almighty, who has made all things well."

Augustine of Hippo:
(Christian Biographies for Young Readers)

Simonetta Carr

List: $18.00 ... WTS $12.60 (30% Off)

"Simonetta Carr offers a sympathetic, whirlwind tour of the life, times, and beliefs of Augustine of Hippo, one of the most important and long-loved figures for Western Christianity. Maps, illustrations, timelines, and photos engage the imagination at a pace that will hold the interest of young readers."
- Brandon and Mindy Withrow, authors of the popular church history series for children, History Lives

"Few figures in Western history are as important as Augustine. He is one of the early church fathers to whom the Reformers rightly looked as an inspiration for their theology and piety in many respects, but he is more than that... Simonetta Carr has produced a clear, readable introduction to the life and work of this great Christian."
- R. Scott Clark, Professor of Church History, Westminster Seminary California
