“Are women important to the Church? Imagine if men and women knew just how important women have been to the Church across its history. This is the power of Feminine Threads. As a son, a husband, and a father of two daughters, I pray that God might use this book to teach generations of men and women the rich, powerful, and essential role faithful women have had in the building of Christ’s Church. If you want to know the power of God in Christian women, read this book and carry on their legacy.” — Jeff Shamess, Westminster Bookstore Staff
“Feminine Threads is a must-read for men and women alike... who need to have a clear view of the contributions that women before them have made to the Christian faith.” — Carolyn McCulley, Conference Speaker and Author of Radical Womanhood: Feminine Faith in a Feminist World
“I recommend every woman read and study and keep within reach for reference and inspiration!"
— Dorothy K. Patterson, Professor of Theology in Women’s Studies, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, Forth Worth, Texas
“A record packed with spiritual insights.”
— Faith Cook, Derbyshire, England
“I highly recommend Feminine Threads by Diana Severance. It is a
comprehensive study of a variety of Christian women, slaves to Queens,
from New Testament times to the present day. The way in which the author
incorporates eyewitness accounts, letters, and diaries are both an
encouragement to read as well as convicting. Another aspect of this book,
which I found very revealing, is the response of each generation of women
to the word of God. This is not a “light read,” but a book that I think
should be in every Christian woman’s library.” — Mary and Gregory K. Beale, Professor of New Testament and Biblical Theology, Westminster Theological Seminary
“With lively prose and scholarly care she has given us an excellent overview of the various ways in which Christian women have sought to live for Christ.”
— Michael A. G. Haykin, Professor of Church History and Biblical Spirituality, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky
“Well researched and well written, this study of "feminine threads" in Christian history makes for a tapestry of inspiration and instruction for all who love the Lord and his church - men and women alike."
— Timothy George, Dean of Beeson Divinity School, Samford University, Birmingham, Alabama
“What a gift to God’s people is this remarkable tracing of the rich trail of women used by God to build his church! Severance’s comprehensive scope and measured but warm scholarly voice put many of today’s more clamoring voices in illuminating perspective. With excellence and careful documentation, Dr. Severance lights up a procession of women who in God’s providence helped bring us to this point in history.” — Kathleen B. Nielson, Ph.D Vanderbilt University; Author Living Word Bible Studies Series

“Our sin-soaked world is drowning in conflict. Strauch deals with this ultra-important subject in an exegetically rich, immediately practical, and refreshing way. Unlike most manuals on conflict which teach you how to ‘get out’ or ‘get more,’ Strauch shows what Spirit-soaked and driven conflict looks like. Strauch shows us how the Word equips us and the Spirit mobilizes us to actually engage in conflict, but to do it for God rather than ourselves. If you have ever wondered what Godly conflict looks like, read Sande and now also read Strauch.” — Jeffrey Shamess, Westminster Bookstore

“Using an arrangement that is arranged topically, then chronologically, Dr. Allison introduces ordinary folks like us to historical theology, ‘the study of the interpretation of Scripture and the formulation of doctrine by the church of the past.’
I could not be more enthusiastic about this volume. Again, I hope this book does for introducing historical theology what Grudem’s book did for introducing systematic theology.” — Justin Taylor, Elder, New Covenant Bible Church; Vice President of Editorial at Crossway Publishing

A Great Book You May Have Missed!
“Philip Jenkins always writes well on very interesting topics. This time his topic is more than interesting—it is essential reading for anyone with any interest in the history of Christianity.”
— Rodney Stark, Author of The Rise of Christianity
“Philip Jenkin's book is a tour de force in historical retrieval and reconstruction, a work of scholarly restoration that strikes an overdue balance in the story of Christianity. ... It is studded with insight, with the story presented in lively and lucid style.”
— Lamin Sanneh, Professor of World Christianity and Professor of History, Yale University
“Once again Philip Jenkins has expanded and enriched our understanding of Christianity by stretching his venturesome scholarship over time and space. In this highly readable and sobering exploration of how religions—including our own—grow, falter, and sometimes die, he adds a unique dimensions to present day religious studies in a voice and style that non-specialists can also appreciate.” — Harvey Cox, Hollis Professor of Divinity, Harvard University
