Publisher Review: The world-famous, much-loved classic Pilgrim’s Progress is here retold for children. This abridged version uses the original words of John Bunyan as selected by Oliver Hunkin to present a gripping narrative. Filled with intricately detailed illustrations, this handsome, large-format book makes an ideal gift.

“A beautifully produced, large-format version of Bunyan’s classic. Although all aspects of the book are skillfully handled, the illustrations are the real key to its effectiveness. Intricately detailed and constructed in a fluid, energetic, well-balanced style, they sweep across the pages dramatically. Rhythmic and stately, the prose is appropriate to the original without being obscure, and it reads aloud well. This religious allegory makes a rousing adventure story, an interesting historical commentary and an amusing satire on church and society.” - School Library Journey

"Dangerous Journey" is my favorite way to introduce younger readers to the greatest book ever written on the Christian life - Pilgrim's Progress. Although abridged, Hunkin leaves Bunyan's original language in tact. Of course, another strength of "Dangerous Journey" is the beautiful illustrations. Parents, get this one and read it to your kids. |
