Dr. Carl Trueman gives us a wonderful gift in this careful study of the thought and times of England's greatest theologian.
One of the marks of Trueman's skill as a fine writer of history is the thoroughness of this slim volume. Particular attention is given to Owen's understanding of epistomology, covenant, and justification. Also of great interest was the impact upon Owen of the dramatic politics of 17th century England. If you want a deeper understanding of John Owen and his place in the history of theological development then I can think of no better volume. |
