Recommended by William Edgar of Westminster Theological Seminary.
See all of Dr. Edgar's recommendations.
This is the book I would recommend as a first exposure to Van Tils approach to apologetics as it presents a straightforward discussion of Christian theology as an organic system of truth and the Christian philosophy of life that embraces a Christian understanding of history and natural revelation. Also discussed is the point of contact between the believer and unbeliever, the problem of method (criticism of the traditional block-house method where the apologist defends the existence of generic deity followed by more specifically Christian aspects of God), and the relationship of authority and reason. Dr. William Edgar provides a very helpful introduction and explanatory notes throughout making this a very usable book. - Jeff Waddington - Westminster Bookstore Staff, 2004
Publisher Review: Began as syllabus in 1929, which went through many editions. First published in 1975 (P&R). This is the first typeset edition; the editor adds an introduction and explanatory notes. |
