Duncan, Ligon (editor)

Pricing details

$39.99 MSRP

This important collection of essays seeks to place the work of the Westminster Assembly in its historical, theological, political and social setting and challenge inaccurate historical assertions that have since become commonplace. It places Westminster in its relation to earlier and later Reformed theology and provides a fresh evaluation of its contribution to the Calvinist tradition. It commends it to us as a faithful expression of clear-headed Christian thinking.

Contributors:

Robert C. Cannada, Jr., Ligon Duncan, Chad Van Dixhoorn, Robert J. Cara, Rowland S. Ward, Robert M. Norris, William C. Traub, J. V. Fesko, Guy M. Richard, Derek W. H. Thomas, Donald Macleod, Valdeci Santos, Wayne R. Spear, Mark E. Ross, David C. Jones

Topics include: The Thirty Nine Articles at the Confession; Karl Barth and the Westminster Confession of Faith; The New Perspective, Paul, Luther & Judaism; Objections to the Covenant Theology of the Confession; The Nature of the Lord’s Supper according to Calvin and the Westminster Assembly.

About the Editor

J. Ligon Duncan, PhD, is the General Editor, and is the Senior Minister of the historic First Presbyterian Church (PCA), Jackson, Mississippi. He is now Adjunct Professor of Theology at the Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS), where he was formerly the John R. Richardson Professor of Systematic Theology. He is Convener of the Twin Lakes Fellowship, a Council Member of the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals, Chairman of the Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood, and Secretary of the Board of Belhaven College.
