About the Author

Dennis E. Johnson is Professor of Practical Theology at Westminster Theological Seminary, Escondido, California. He is a graduate of Westmont College (B.A.), Westminster Theological Seminary (M.Div., Th.M.), and Fuller Theological Seminary (Ph.D.), and has taught at Westminster Seminary California since 1982. Previously, from 1973-1981 he pastored Orthodox Presbyterian churches in Fair Lawn, New Jersey, and East Los Angeles, California.

After teaching New Testament for 16 years, he now teaches primarily preaching and ministry courses, in which he applies his background in biblical studies to the issues of ministry, the church, and the culture. Dr. Johnson is also Associate Pastor of New Life Presbyterian Church, a Presbyterian Church in America congregation in Escondido. He has served as moderator of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church General Assembly and Presbytery of Southern California, moderator of South Coast Presbytery in the Presbyterian Church in America, member of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church Committee on Christian Education, and trustee of Covenant College.

Dr. Johnson has preached and taught in Chad, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, and the Ukraine. His main areas of interest and research are Homiletics; Hermeneutics, especially the interrelation of the OT and the NT; and Christian education, especially the process of encouraging growth in godliness by exhibiting the diverse implications of the gospel of God’s grace in Christ. His numerous books and articles include The Triumph of the Lamb: A Commentary on Revelation, Christ and Our Many Cultures, The Message of Acts in the History of Redemption, Him We Proclaim: Preaching Christ from All the Scriptures, and Let’s Study Acts (in the Trust’s Let’s Study series of commentaries).
