We all have questions about death. Despite the strong assurance the Bible gives us about life beyond the grave, Christians are often troubled by other questions. What will happen on the day of judgement? Will we have bodies in heaven? Will there be rewards?
These short, readable book explains clearly and simply what we can say with certainty from the Bible about dying, death and life beyond the grave.
Marcus Nodder is senior pastor of St. Peter's Barge—a floating church in London's Canary Wharf which reaches out to workers in the financial district. He worked in banking before training for Christian ministry at Oak Hill College. He is married to Lina and has four children.
Endorsements (${ productEndorsements.length })
“This book faces up to real issues and questions that people have about death and gives real answers not just wishful thinking. Readable, engaging and clear, I'm getting copies to give away.”
Hugh Palmer
Rector, All Souls Langham Place, London.
“Marcus has written a clear, simple book which is wonderfully pastoral in its focus and answers many of the nagging questions Christians (and non-Christians) have about death and what happens next. Very encouraging to read—and easy to pass on.”
Rev. James de Costobadie
St Johns Christchurch, New Zealand
“This magnificent book provides a comprehensive answer to the most important question any of us will ever ask. It provides a clear guide to the Bibles teaching on death and beyond. It is informative, well argued and compelling. I recommend it wholeheartedly.”
Rev. William Taylor
Rector, St Helens Bishopsgate
“Marcus has done us a great service of shining light on a subject that is often neglected, and consequently murky in our churches today. In an area of thought that is increasingly vulnerable to the creep of pagan ideas, What Happens When I Die? is biblical, refreshing, faithful and pertinent. It has all the makings of a church book-table best seller! I for one will have a constant supply available for our church. I am grateful to Marcus for writing a book that is accessible and practical. Particularly helpful for their brevity and clarity, are the excellent, myth-busting applications based on the content of each chapter. I heartily commend this book to you.”
Rev. Grant Retief
Rector, Christ Church Umhlanga, South Africa
“With some great down-to-earth illustrations and a pastorally-sensitive clarity, Marcus Nodder unwraps the Bible's teaching on what happens the other side of death. A short but profound book of searching insight, stark warning, and glorious hope—a must-read for all mortals!”
Lee Gatiss
Director, Church Society and Adjunct Lecturer in Church History, Wales Evangelical School of Theology.
“Reading a book on death that makes you glad to die means it must be a good book! At least, if not wanting to die prematurely, it breathed a quiet firm confidence that when that day inevitably comes, the sting of death has gone! Marcus Nodder writes boldly, yet sensitively. We are left in no doubt that certain crucial issues must be faced before death, so that certain crucial confidences can be anticipated after death. The ground of such hope is not wishful thinking, but the person, work and promises of Jesus Christ. This book is excellent for those facing their own mortality, for those who are bereaved, but especially for those who think death is just switching off a light. The truth is so much bigger than that, and the possibilities so much more wonderful!”
Charles Price
Senior Pastor, The Peoples Church, Toronto; Host, Living Truth television and radio.
“Our experiences in life may vary greatly, but what we all have in common is that one day we will die; and it is essential to know what happens when we do. The good news is we can know. In this book Marcus Nodder works through key biblical passages clearly showing us what happens after death. Marcus' pastoral heart and considerable experience is evident as he answers the common questions that many of us have about death, heaven, and judgment. Whether you believe in God or not, you will benefit greatly from the short time it takes to read this book.”
Jane M.Tooher
Director, Priscilla and Aquila Centre, Moore Theological College
“A great series and an excellent resource. Important issues tackled thoughtfully, carefully, thoroughly and biblically. You couldn't ask for anything more. So don't. Buy these and use them well.”
Steve Timmis
Director, Acts 29 Europe
“Marcus Nodder has written sensitively and honestly about death, dying and the life to come. Avoiding the usual platitudes and not ducking the hard questions he has given us a gift; a clear statement of the biblical hope. Everyone, whether they see themselves as Christian or not, needs to consider the issues raised in this unusually helpful little book. None of us can avoid dying and each of us needs to start thinking seriously about what will happen in the seconds (and then ages) beyond our earthly passing. You can't do better than this!”
Liam Goligher
Senior Minister, Tenth Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia
“This book grapples with some difficult questions about death and what lies beyond. In a clear and direct manner, it explains biblical teaching and uses contemporary illustrations and observations to show its relevance. Cutting through misconceptions and false beliefs, Marcus Nodder challenges us to take seriously what God has actually revealed on this all-important topic.”
David G.Peterson
Former Principal, Oak Hill Theological College
