About the Author

Benjamin Morgan Palmer (1818-1902) was born and raised in South Carolina. After graduating from the University of Georgia in 1838 and from Columbia Theological Seminary in 1841, he pastored churches in Savannah, Georgia (1841-1842), Columbia, South Carolina (1843-1855), and New Orleans, Louisiana (1856-1902). He was highly influential in the Southern Presbyterian Church and served as its first Moderator.
