Endorsements (${ productEndorsements.length })
“The strength of this work is the way it takes some of the best material on the interpretation of apocalyptic generally, and Revelation in particular, and presents it in a palatable, readable form. Johnson knows how to write, and his text is infused with a rare sanity—rare, that is, amongst those who write at a reasonably popular level on the book of Revelation.”
D. A. Carson
“Johnson writes with masterful skill without losing the reader down exegetical rabbit trails. Triumph of the Lamb is essential reading on Revelation from a man with unique qualifications as a well-loved pastor, New Testament scholar, and now professor of practical theology. This book is itself a triumph.”
S. M. Baugh
“Sophisticated but readable, methodically astute but eminently practical. This patient and sane book is an excellent guide for readers who find Revelation attractive but frightening, and for teachers who wish to share its treasures with their people.”
Dan Doriani
“The book of Revelation is arguably the most difficult book to understand in the entire Bible. It confronts the reader with a strange world of alien imagery and apocalyptic symbolism. Many commentaries seek to communicate the central truths of the book, but they err in being either too simplistic or too technical. Johnson’s commentary on Revelation is both clearly written and academically competent. The author reminds us that the book of Revelation is designed to unveil the realities of kingdom conflict that provide the ultimate context surrounding the world in which we live. The historical conflicts mirror heavenly conflicts in the invisible world, and the book of Revelation provides us with an inspired interpretation of these events. What is the secret to understanding these events? The answer is simple: the Lamb has triumphed! Johnson demonstrates that the central message of Revelation is that Christ in his humiliation and exaltation has triumphed over Satan and his demonic host. Revelation is designed to edify and encourage a beleaguered church since “the victory belongs to God and his Christ.” Johnson’s commentary is sane, clear, and instructive for all who wish to obtain a deeper understanding of Revelation’s central message.”
