Wisdom from Westminster: Devotional Readings from Twelve Divines

“A brilliantly conceived, beautifully crafted multitasking book. At one level, it is a historical narrative of the Westminster Assembly and some of its most significant pastor-theologians, while at another it serves as a wisdom-packed introductory handbook to Christian believing and living. At yet another level, it weaves together the Assembly’s doctrinal formulations with rich pastoral exposition and application. Wisdom from Westminster deserves to be read and treasured for years to come.”

“Leading Puritan preachers and theologians are now accessible. These selected readings from that epoch are devotional in character and minister personally to the reader.”

“Here you will find a delectable marriage of both doctrine and life in every savory selection, all interlaced with prayers of devotion. It is no understatement to say that the Westminster divines changed the course of church history and defined their generation. Their writings, including those preserved here, have the potential to define our own as well.”

“This volume is an ideal place to start getting a feel for the doctrinal and devotional thinking that shaped some of the most important summaries of Christian faith and life in history.”

“This book is wonderfully informative and devotional and highly recommended reading for anyone who wants to know the doctrines of Scripture and their summary in the Standards in a deeper way.”
