Acrostic of Salvation Audiobook
Blog: Proclaiming His Salvation to Our Children (Westminster Kids)
Kids, even you can learn soteriology!
Soteriology studies how God saves us
From the wrath of God and our sin that enslaves us.
So it's not just a bunch of big words for our head,
But how Christ took the curse we deserve when he bled.
The Acrostic of Salvation is a joy to read and recite. Young readers will learn soteriology--the study of how God saves us.
Jonathan Gibson and Timothy Brindle present an alphabet of words related to salvation, written to a rhyming beat: A for adoption, B for baptism, C for communion, all the way to Z. All the words paint a detailed and varied portrait of what salvation through Jesus is all about.
Using the alphabet to teach about God has a rich history in the Bible, especially in the Psalms and Lamentations. Several of the psalms--notably Psalm 119--begin with letters of the Hebrew alphabet, forming an acrostic that spells out the entire alphabet.
The authors make learning about soteriology memorable and fun. Their book shows "By faith, we're now connected to Jesus our treasure; Forgiven and changed in him, he keeps us forever."
Illustrated by C. S. Fritz, The Acrostic of Salvation is the third in the series, Acrostic Theology for Kids, introducing children ages five to eleven to systematic theology uniquely on their age level.
Rev. Dr. Jonathan Gibson (PhD, Cambridge University) is associate professor of Old Testament at Westminster Theological Seminary. Dr. Gibson previously served as associate minister at Cambridge Presbyterian Church in England.
He is a contributor to and co-editor (with David Gibson) of From Heaven He Came and Sought Her: Definite Atonement in Historical, Biblical, Theological, and Pastoral Perspective. He is also the author of historical and biblical articles in Themelios, Journal of Biblical Literature, and Tyndale Bulletin, as well as “Obadiah” in the NIV Proclamation Bible. His PhD was published as Covenant Continuity and Fidelity: A Study of Inner-Biblical Allusion and Exegesis in Malachi (Bloomsbury).
Dr. Gibson’s academic interests include biblical theology, covenant theology, Genesis chapters 1–3, inner-biblical allusion and exegesis within the Old Testament, Pauline soteriology, and the doctrines of grace.
Timothy Brindle, ThM, MDiv, is a Pastor at Olive Street Presbyterian Church (PCA), and a candidate for the PhD in Old Testament at Westminster Theological Seminary, where he serves as the Senior Stewardship Officer. Timothy and his wife, Floriana, have nine children and live in the Philadelphia area.
C. S. Fritz grew up on a farm in Oregon, where he milked cows and had a pet pig. To escape the endless chores C. S. would draw. As a young child, his family moved to Arizona, and it was there he has spent most of his life, married the love of his life, and had two wild kids. C. S. is an award-winning author and illustrator of The Cottonmouth Trilogy, Good Night Tales, The Moonman Cometh, Seekers, Good Night Classics, and illustrator of the Acrostic Theology for Kids series.
Endorsements (${ productEndorsements.length })
“Every Christian parent, as well as pastors and leaders of Christ’s Church, are always in need of Biblically faithful and effective instruments to assist in communicating the Gospel clearly to the “lambs” in the flock. This volume fulfills that desire beyond expectation with its effective teaching style, as well as interest attracting presentation, while communicating the life-changing power of the Gospel and call to Christ allowing children ‘to come unto Him.’”
Harry L. Reeder III
Pastor Teacher, Briarwood Presbyterian Church, Birmingham, Alabama
“Whoever said solid theology is only for adults neither understands children nor theology! This wonderful series persuasively speaks deep truth to children and grown-ups in an imaginative, memorable way. It will revolutionize the way they learn the things that matter most in life.”
William Edgar

“Biblical professor and parent, Jonny Gibson, and hip-hop artist and parent, Timothy Brindle, have crafted a readable and reliable series for basic Christian doctrines. We parents just might find ourselves discovering some new treasures along with our kids!”

Nancy Guthrie

“God has chosen to make use of rhyme in order to help His people better learn and remember His truth. TimothyBrindle and Jonny Gibson have given parents and teachers a simple resource to assist children in learning the deep theological truths about Christ. Additionally, they have highlighted the importance of knowing the Lord's Prayer, the Ten Commandments, and the Apostle's Creed. This is a richly creative resource.”
Pastor Nick Batzig
Senior Pastor, Church Creek PCA in Charleston, SC and Associate Editor, Ligonier Ministries
“Learning is helped by memory aids and using the alphabet in this way is especially great for kids. It helps them remember AND gives them a sense of accomplishment, since they already know the alphabet and can tie new ideas to it. Looking forward to hearing Timothy rap it!”
