The Doctrine of Scripture (Foundational Truths for Family Worship, Volume 1)

“The Shema of Deuteronomy 6 bids God’s people to teach His word diligently to their children (v. 7). Among the challenges faced by believing parents today for obeying this all-important command is a biblically sound and practically shaped resource to accomplish the task. Kelsey has done the church a great service in this regard by writing a first-rate family worship guide utilizing the lost art of catechesis—question and answer pedagogy. If you are looking for a top-notch strategy to anchor your kids on the firm foundation of the Christian faith, look no further. This first volume begins where all solid catechism formats must—the majesty, authority, and importance of the Holy Scriptures. The author equips you with appropriate texts, prayers, songs, and applications for a meaningful home-worship experience. Your kids will thrive, and you will grow in faith and godliness as you tap the rich resources in this introductory volume—along with those that follow. This is family worship made easy to the end of family life made Christ-centered to the glory of God and the joy of parents and children alike.”

“If our children are to thrive by God’s grace, they must first learn to thrill in God’s Word. Kelsey Jurkovich has written a helpful book to guide parents in leading their children to love the Bible—not as an end in itself, but as a means to the greater end of knowing, enjoying, and living unto the God of the gospel. Whether new to family worship or a seasoned veteran, this volume, under the Spirit’s blessing, is fit to expand your family’s delight in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments.”

“Family worship is concerned with more than Bible stories. Ideally there is an upward spiral of knowledge and piety that results from the study of both scripture and doctrine, the one illuminating the other in an ever heightening true knowledge of God. The strength of this series of books in general and of this volume on the doctrine of scripture in particular is that it leads family worship into the deeper waters in which family devotional life needs to go. We want our families not only to know the content of scripture, but also to be convinced that the scripture is trustworthy, reliable, and authoritative. This book will help us to get there.”
