"Surely it is worthwhile to lay ourselves out with all our might in promoting the cause and kingdom of Christ." More than any other contemporary work, William Carey's Enquiry was responsible for the birth of the "modern missions movement." Earnest, concise, and biblically persuasive, the Enquiry remains unwavering in its challenge to Christ's church to follow the Great Commission to the ends of the earth. This modernized edition includes the preface to the 1891 edition and features a new foreword by Kevin DeYoung and an afterword by Mark Dever.

About the Author

William Carey helped shape modern missions and changed the spiritual landscape of India. Known as the Father of Modern Missions, Carey’s obedience to God shaped the course of modern missions and left a legacy that continues to inspire believers today. He served 41 years in India without a furlough. William Carey helped translate the Bible into six languages. He helped found the Baptist Missionary Society, Serampore College, and the Serampore Mission Press. Carey humbly considered himself a “wretched, poor, and helpless worm,” seeking not to magnify his own name, but to exalt his Savior. “Expect great things from God; attempt great things for God.”
