Summary of Christian Doctrine (Eerdmans Edition)
Similar to the author's Manual of Christian Doctrine, this volume offers a simpler and briefer presentation of Christian doctrine geared especially to high school students. Technical terms and detailed explanations have been avoided, and important Scripture passages are printed in full. Includes review questions.
About the Author
Louis Berkhof (1874–1957) taught for thirty-eight years at Calvin Theological Seminary, Grand Rapids, Michigan. His numerous other books include The History of Christian Doctrine, Manual of Christian Doctrine, and Systematic Theology, one of the enduring dogmatic statements of the Reformed faith.
Endorsements (${ productEndorsements.length })
“A comprehensive yet lucid and understandable summary of Christian doctrine.... Louis Berkhof has produced a book that should be very much appreciated by those desiring to instruct young people. It will be the means of building up many in the faith.”
The Presbyterian Guardian
“The emphasis on Hoy Writ is a refreshing feature of this work, while the name of this former professor of dogmatic theology at Calvin Seminary is sufficient guarantee of the scriptural and scholastic character of its contents. Although primarily intended for schools and theological classes, it will be equally useful to those who desire by private study to acquire a clear understanding of the cardinal truths of Christianity.”
Peace and Truth
“We admire this book for its clarity and for its fresh presentation of familiar material. The lessons are short and to the point. We know of no book on doctrine we would rather recommend to those who want a volume to which they can turn for a brief but sufficiently complete statement of the Bible's teachings. No home library is complete without it.”
