About the Author
John Owen (1616-1683) was a leading English Puritan. He served as Oliver Cromwell's chaplain and Dean of Christ Church at Oxford. Highly intelligent and pastoral, his works continue to be reprinted in full as well as in abridged versions adapted to modern English.
