The Long Road Home: A Tale of Two Sons and a Father's Never-Ending Love
An Engaging Rendition of the Prodigal Son Parable for Kids In this creative retelling of the parable of the Prodigal Son, the youngest son, Wander, was willing to give up everything for his independence--including a relationship with his father and brother Goodness. With his father's cash in hand, he left for the alluring towns of Perfection, Prosperity, and Popularity. Each new town brought a brief sense of happiness, but eventually, as the excitement wore off, he was overcome by a deepening sense of emptiness. It was then that Wander remembered his father's words, "Wherever you go, my son, I want you to remember that I love you with a never-ending love." The Long Road Home retells this powerful parable in a creative and understandable way for children ages 6-8. As kids hear about Wander's difficult experiences and discuss them with their parents, they will learn joy is not found within themselves or in the world. Instead, children will rediscover the never-ending love of their heavenly Father, who gives them worth, hope, and identity when they put their trust in him. For Children Ages 6-8: Engaging story keeps kids focused on biblical truths A Retelling of the Prodigal Son: A classic parable told in a fresh and creative way Influenced by The Pilgrim's Progress: Comparable storyline and tone to the famous novel The Pilgrim's Progress Teaches Kids an Important Lesson: With the guidance of parents, young readers will understand their true identity, worth, and joy is found through their heavenly Father
"Sarah Walton's storytelling in The Long Road Home feels nostalgically familiar and yet utterly unique. Weaving together elements from Pilgrim’s Progress and the parable of the Prodigal son, Walton manages to do justice to both stories without feeling the least bit contrived. The result is a beautiful little book that resists heavy-handed, didactic teaching, while providing a springboard for meaningful conversations with your kids about pride, perfectionism, greed, popularity and grace. Christina Yang's illustrations have an atmospheric, vibrant, and dreamlike quality that will invite even the most distractible child to linger over each page. If you’re looking for a fresh bedtime read, or a book for the classroom to engage kids with the gospel, I’d encourage you to consider adding The Long Road Home to your library."

“In this book, parents will find opportunities to speak about where we place our hope, and children will be drawn into the adventure. Even better, both will want to talk about our Father’s never-ending love!” Darby Strickland Faculty and Counselor, Christian Counseling & Educational Foundation

Addressing key issues in biblical theology, the works comprised by New Studies in Biblical Theology are creative attempts to help Christians better understand their Bibles. The NSBT series is edited by D. A. Carson and Benjamin L. Gladd, aiming to simultaneously instruct and to edify, to interact with current scholarship and to point the way ahead. New Studies in Biblical Theology volumes focus on three areas: the nature and status of biblical theology, including its relationship to other disciplines the articulation and exposition of the structure of thought from a particular biblical writer or text the delineation of a biblical theme across the biblical corpus While volume notes interact with the best of recent research, the text of each work avoids untransliterated Greek and Hebrew or too much specialist jargon. The volumes are written within the framework of confessional evangelicalism, but they also engage a variety of other relevant viewpoints and significant literature.

It was then that Wander remembered his father's words, "Wherever you go, my son, I want you to remember that I love you with a never-ending love."

Fall New and Noteworthy Kids Titles
