Hope is a 11-year old girl who likes reading, writing, and swimming.
Her favorite books at the Westminster Bookstore are:
In this second book of The Wingfeather Saga, the Igibys must flee to the safety of the Ice Prairies, where the lizardlike Fangs of Dang cannot follow. First, however, they have to escape the monsters of Glipwood Forest, the thieving Stranders of the East Ben, and the dreaded Fork Factory.
Hope says: “I adore the Wingfeather Saga because I like the style of writing, the made up world with its animals, and the plotline. Andrew Peterson's style is frilly in a funny way. The series is exciting and bittersweet, and teaches about grace and sacrifice.”
The third installment of The Green Ember series is a harrowing adventure inside enemy territory. Heather and Picket are plunged into the darkness of Morbin's shadow, fighting to bear the flame of the cause and light the way for rabbitkind's upright insurrection.
Hope says: “The Green Ember series is fun to read. The characters grow and learn in this wonderful action-packed series, and there are lots of surprises. I've lost count of how many times I've read these books!”
Tech gives us tools to connect with our friends, listen to our music, document our lives, share our opinions, and keep up with what's going on in the world. Yet it also tempts us to procrastinate, avoid honest conversations, compare ourselves with others, and filter our reality. When we're wise about how we use our devices, we can get more--more joy, more connection, more out of life.
Hope says: “This book tells stories from the author's life, shows graphs, and gives tips about managing screentime. Tech can be good in some ways and bad in some ways. Kids should read this book to learn how to use technology in a helpful way.”
Ten-year-old Persimmony Smudge lives a boring life on the Island in the Middle of Everything, but she longs for adventure. And she soon gets it when she overhears a life-altering secret and suddenly finds herself in the middle of an amazing journey. Now it’s up to Persimmony and her friend Worvil to convince the island’s quarreling inhabitants that a giant is sleeping in their midst and must not be awakened.
Hope says: “This is one of my favorite books. (I've read it more than ten times.) The main character is funny, curious, adventurous, and a bit stubborn. Read this book if you love funny stories and adventures.”
On a desperate journey, two runaways meet and join forces. Though they are only looking to escape their harsh and narrow lives, they soon find themselves at the center of a terrible battle. It is a battle that will decide their fate and the fate of Narnia itself.
Hope says: “This story teaches that God works in ways that we don't know yet. I like that it tells a story from when Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy were kings and queens of Narnia.”
