Benjamin Breckinridge Warfield

Benjamin Breckinridge Warfield (1851–1921) was an American Presbyterian theologian and one of the most influential Reformed scholars of his era. A graduate of Princeton College (1871) and Princeton Theological Seminary (1876), he taught at Western Theological Seminary before being appointed in 1887 to the chair of didactic and polemic theology at Princeton Seminary, a post he held until his death. Often called the last of the great "Old Princeton" theologians, Warfield wrote widely on the inspiration and authority of Scripture, the person and work of Christ, and Calvinism. His works, including The Inspiration and Authority of the Bible, The Plan of Salvation, Counterfeit Miracles, and The Emotional Life of Our Lord, remain widely read today.
