From the garden on, God spoke to his people in ways that formed God-centered narratives, accounts that now serve as historical narratives that may serve to shape our perspectives, beliefs, desires, and habits. The volume you are reading is the attempt of the Association of Biblical Counselors—with help from our members, partners, and friends—to provide readers with helpful counseling resources drawn from Old Testament narratives. The handouts in the book will assist counselors on points to cover in session with counselees as well as provide “after session” homework for them to work through.
Our prayer is that the narratives highlighted will help counselees embrace and assimilate life-giving, Godspoken stories that may serve to bring new perspective, and therefore renewed hope in the One who spoke them.
