Instructing a Child's Heart
The Essential Follow–up to Shepherding a Child's Heart

Publisher's Description
From interaction with their peers to the instruction and correction that they receive at home, children interpret their experience from a worldview that seeks to answer their fundamental questions: Who am I? What do I exist for? Where can I find joy? We need to provide our children with a consistent, persuasive, biblical framework for understanding the world God has made and their place in it.
Instructing a Child’s Heart is essential to Shepherding a Child's Heart. The instruction that you provide for them not only informs their minds; it is directed to persuading their hearts of the wisdom and truthfulness of God’s ways. Impress truth on the hearts of your children, not to control or manage them, but to point them to the greatest joy and happiness that they can experience—delighting in God and the goodness of his ways.

“As parents of six spunky children, we’ve found Tedd and Margy Tripp’s parenting advice to be simply the best. In a sea of child–raising materials flooding the market today, Instructing a Child’s Heart is a solid rock on which we can stand. Picking up where Shepherding a Child’s Heart left off, this new book is clear, biblical, and very practical. If you have children, you need to know Tedd and Margy Tripp.”

“A biblical and practical sequel to Shepherding a Childs Heart.”
Marvin Olasky

“Biblical. Practical. Pastoral. This insightful book on godly childrearing is everything we would expect from the author who brought us Shepherding a Child’s Heart. Its tremendous value comes from the fact that it centers on the essential but oft neglected heart of biblical parenting: the Gospel of grace. I am glad to recommend it.”
John MacArthur
Pastor–Teacher, Grace Community Church
“If you are (as I am) one of the hundreds of thousands who have found Shepherding a Child’s Heart helpful and insightful, then you will likewise profit from Instructing a Child’s Heart. The Tripp’s have a gift for presenting biblical truth about parenting in ways that are practical, God–centered, Gospel–driven, and compassionate. If you need help and hope in the raising of your children—and what parent doesn’t—read this book.”
Donald S. Whitney
Professor of Biblical Spirituality, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, author of Spiritual Disciplines for the Christian Life
“The Tripp’s have once again written a book that will shape our children’s parenting style and will have direct impact on our grandchildren. Instructing a Child’s Heart will help them avoid all the behavioristic manipulation and threatenings that sadly marked our parenting and is seen so frequently in our churches. I heartily recommend it.”
